The biofilm sensor is placed in a water line, operated as flow through sensor, and continuously measures real time and inline the water quality and the formation of biofilm. The sensor is sensitive for turbidity, the presence of chromophores with absorption at 461 nm, like humic acids, and for biofilm formation in the sensor.
The sensor controller makes it possible to set the dosing rate of a pump at a value related to the measured water quality. Additionally, the controller contains a datalogger and real time clock that stores all measurements and related pump settings on a SD card. Both the sensor and the controller can be configured through a wifi connection with a smartphone. The dosing pump shown in the example is not included in the delivery.
